Some Christmas snow shoeing

Ok, so you may or may not have noticed that I've taken a little break from blogging. Can I blame being pregnant for that, too? Just kidding, I've just been lazy/doing some crazy nesting stuff at home. More on that later. But the good news is, now I have a couple months worth of bloggy pictures and stories to catch up on, so things might get interesting on here for the next little bit. Might... :)

For Christmas Miles and I had been saving up our vacation, and we had a whole week and a half to spend up in Utah between the two families. Soooooo worth only taking short vacations the rest of the year! This time we split the drive into two days, since it sounded fun to use the I'm-8-months-pregnant excuse to cash in on Rebekah's awesome Marriott discounts and stay in Vegas. It was probably a good thing, too, because everyone else seemed to have the same idea as us, and it took two hours to get out of just the LA traffic. Bleh.

Anyway, we managed to get to UT right after some amazing snowstorms, and even kind of got in on one on Christmas eve morning. Luckily our little Civic is the champion of all champion cars, and made it up all kinds of hills with no problems! Seriously that car is the bomb. 329,000 miles and still going strong! I'm determined to take a picture when it gets to 333,333...I keep forgetting and missing every other cool milestone by just a few miles!

On the 28th we got to go snowshoeing with Miles's brother Clint and his wife Aubree. Some of my favorite people in the world! Unfortunately the snow shoes that Miles had left up in his parents' attic for years had had a little too much heat(we think) and the straps literally disintegrated at a touch. Kind of cool, though. Miles and Clint went to work, and pretty soon they were held firmly to Miles's feet again jerry-rig style. My suggestion of duct tape was trumped by zip ties and string. More manly that way?

Here we are showing off our cool snow shoes! and almost falling over...
We went up the ?escape route?(is that what it was called?) by Clint and Aubree's place in Woodland Hills...SOOO PRETTY! Miles packed his pockets with granola bars and fruit snacks, making me think we were going on an all-day adventure, but really we just trekked around for 30 min or so and headed back. It was so worth it, though, and I would go again in a second!

One more of us. These snow pictures are my favorite!

It was so deep! We're guessing maybe four feet? Although we never took off our snow shoes to check

Our adventuresome group: Clint, Aubree, Jessica, Miles

Here's where I was thrilled that Miles wanted to take a picture, so I
could secretly catch my breath. An extra 25 lbs adds a LOT!
