Our house. The OUTSIDE parts

Ta-da! Our little new home:

here's the front, and the side-y view, too(although that picture isn't the best). As you can see, we've added some flowers to our garden, which we are hoping will soon expand and cover all the front. I planted some alysum here and there specially for that purpose, Mom. :)
Miles and I each picked a ground cover plant we liked. Mine has blue flowers, and Miles's has cactus-y things and takes less water. Funny how they look the same in these pics, though!

in the back yard we're hard at work growing our garden. We plan to harvest it and eat like kings! Peas and watermelon, that is. Our leftover wedding skewers came in handy as poles for the peas. We also planted some baby tears in the shady murky spot under the bathroom window.
the mysterious hatch you see in the second picture leads to our...um...basement? actually I just try to leave it shut most of the time and hope nothing crawls out of it. The tragic thing is, we think that the internet guy had to go in there to set up our internet, but I never saw him do it. That WOULD be a tight squeeze.
But, if you ever really get into a bind paying rent, just know that we'd be happy to do little digging and provide you with a free basement apartment! Also some beets.

House: the INSIDE parts

Okay, trying again... I was having hard times with the other pictures disappearing all over the place, so this is the inside of the house. I'll do the outside in a sec. :) Our plan is, you can familiarize yourselves with the house and therefore avoid getting lost in its ponderous twists and turns when you come to visit us this summer. So, ready? Here we go...
Exhibit A: the living room, aka guest room.
<---left side <---in-the-door view
Note the highly comfortable futon on the left side, open to any and all guests who stay with us. Also we found a good use for the bakers rack that we managed to fit into our trunk when coming up here--it's a thing-holder! Other important facts about this room: a) the mailman slips mail through a hole in the door every day. b) it leads to the kitchen, through the doors shown.

Now, you're probably feeling like you have a handle on what's where, but here's where things get really tricky:
Exhibit B: The kitchen
Some people only have one door to their kitchen. Yep. We have three. But don't worry, you already saw one in the living room, and one is in the back yard, behind the fridge there. The other you'll see in a sec. Important things to know: a) if you come in the next three days or so, you can have some of the Cocoa Puffs on top of the fridge. b) making cheese nips out of mac'n'cheese powder does NOT work; it just leaves you with very salty little orange squares that no one wants to eat.

Now, last but not least! (also a little bit tricky, but now you're prepared): Exhibit C: The REST
One..Two..Three.
#1. This first pic is the hallway. Mastering this is key to getting anywhere in our house. Luckily it is short, in case you have to grope your way around in the dark. I've tested myself on it several times in the middle of the night, and only had a few run-ins with any walls.
#2 Our pretty little bedroom, with the awesome James C. Christensen paintings on the wall. That was the banging I was talking about :) Here you can also see the awesome cabinet that Miles made, just holding all our stuff like a champ.
#3 The bathroom. You had a glimpse of this in the front room, which is always handy--it IS the room people always want to see first, curiously enough. It's super nice, and soon will also be super re-caulked, maybe tomorrow if we get adventurous with our Saturday. This bathroom also comes equipped with an escape hatch window in case of fire. Makes up for the lack of exhaust fan, I think.

Note: someday we still DO want to do a video, though!
